Special moment at Inn at Garden Plaza

There have been a number of special moments along the way, and yesterday was no exception!  At one point, while my son Ben was playing “The Godfather,” an elderly man who was sitting up front got up and walked out hurriedly.  I assumed he needed the restroom, but when he returned he had a stack of pictures, small books, and papers under his arm.  He didn’t speak English well, but tried to tell me (quite loudly, during the recital!) 🙂 about those papers.  They were his documents and memorabilia from his days serving the Italian Air Force during WWII.  Hearing “The Godfather” had triggered something in him….after the recital, Ben sat down with him and the man was so happy to show off his treasures.  And Ben was so happy his music had touched someone so deeply!

Wonderful recital at a wonderful new facility….

This past Thursday, “Little Hearts, Big Music” performed at the brand-new Bethesda Gardens in Monument.  This was one of the best-attended recitals yet!  Over 30 residents were there to listen to the children perform, and they played beautifully!  We can’t wait to return…..

We returned to where it all started….

“Little Hearts, Big Music” was founded at the Norwichtown Rehab Center in Connecticut in 2011 while the boys and I were visiting my Grandma Montie. Today we performed there again while visiting my Uncle Jim who is there now. Thanks to a childhood friend, her wonderful little girls, and of course my mom and my boys, today’s recital was a huge success! So thankful…

Great recital at the Union Printers’ Home….

Last night we were hosted by over a dozen seniors at the Union Printers Home….and the performers were joined by my lovely, wonderful, fiddling neighbors, Tammi Stuart and her father, Junior Daugherty.  We had so much fun!!!!

It’s been awhile since my last post…

…but we’ve had a lot of wonderful performances this year! And a few more to go. Here is one of my favorite pics from this summer…

Thank you for a tremendous 2016!

We closed out our “2016 Tour” today with an incredible recital at Overture, a day center for intellectually disabled adults.  The clients were so encouraging to the performers, and the children did such an amazing job.  It’s been a great year!  IMG_5670.jpg

“LHBM” at CS Senior Center for Veteran’s Day…

A year ago today I thought what a great idea it would be for “Little Hearts, Big Music” to host a Veteran’s Day recital and luncheon at the Colorado Springs Senior Center. Well, today it happened!!!! Ten young musicians performed beautiful patriotic songs and then shared lunch with the seniors/veterans. Here is a 3-minute video of Noah and Ben’s performances (and YES, that’s my MOM accompanying the boys in the first piece.) It was a good day. 🙂 (P.S. – big “thank you” to Kneaders in north Colorado Springs for giving me a break on the cost of the food, and for providing such an amazing spread!)
